Plenty of good things are coming in 2022, both in the cinema and TV. Also in life, but don’t let my longing for Spring ruin this post for you 😉 Since we are still in the notorious pandemic times, lots of movies and shows were moved to 2022.
But before I dive into what’s coming… Let me quickly wrap up 2021. Movie Challenge aside (final summary coming next week), I made this list of movies/series last year. Take a look what I managed to see:

The 355 (Coming in January) – FILM
All-female spy thriller? Count me in! I have my hopes up, not gonna lie. I pray for a good plot, so all that wonderful talent (Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o…) will not go to waste. Perhaps this will end the “should the next James Bond be a woman” debate.
No, it shouldn’t. Women should have their own original spy characters to play.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

C’mon, C’mon (Coming in January) – FILM
Joaquin Phoenix in black and white movie by Mike Mills? This for sure will be interesting to see. Besides, the plot summary is so heartwarming: a radio journalist is looking after his nephew and takes him for a cross-country, life-changing trip? Come on.
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

Moonfall (Coming in February) – FILM
Ohhh you give me great sci-fi, I will watch it. And this one sounds like a really good one. It comes from Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) so I expect a lot. Plus, Michael Peña is among the cast. This man is not on the screens enough!!!! I just love him, he is such a good actor.
EXCITED: level “okay, I can watch it”

The Eyes of Tammy Faye (Coming in February) – FILM
I’m not the greatest fan of Jessica Chastain, but she did a great job in Scenes from a Marriage. I absolutely hated her character. But this film got a lot of praise from world screenings. And it tells a real story, so this makes it even more interesting. Plus. Andrew Garfield.
EXCITED: level “nope, but let’s watch it for science”

Marry Me (Coming in February) – FILM
Yup. A totally typical romantic comedy with J-LO and Owen Wilson. And oh, Maluma of course. I am not a big sucker for those kinds of movies, but every once in a while… It’s something everyone needs. Brainless entertainment.
EXCITED: level “okay, I can watch it”

Cyrano (Coming in February) – FILM
Sounds crazy weird but I am here for it. Looks nice, judging from the pictures, so why not give it a shot? It’s about a romantic soldier with a big heart, who feels insecure about himself. I am curious, perhaps it will be a sweet fluff.
EXCITED: level “okay, I can watch it”

Belfast (Coming in February) – FILM
Ahhh, I only saw the trailer once but I immediately fell in love. Ireland in the 60s? While the world was celebrating the Apollo mission being a success? They were fighting for their future and seeing a story set in that period of time? I am very much in.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

The Batman (Coming in March) – FILM
Okay. No, but okay. Definitely intrigued for yet another chapter in the Batman story. There is so much pressure on DC right now – with Marvel thriving – but I really hope they will keep their focus. The teasers and trailer look absolutely insane: dark, gloomy, ruthless and emotional. Just like the Batman story should look like.
Now, you know that I am a die-hard fan of Nolan versions, but I am open. It can’t be worse than the Affleck versions 😉
Let’s see how it turns out, shall we? And maybe we will get a decent Catwoman for once! Cast is out of this world. Plus, the soundtrack is created by Michael Giacchino – recently one of my favorite composers out there.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Turning Red (Coming in March) – FILM
This might be the right amount of sugar we need in life! Animated movie about red pandas? Yes, please. Though I just heard it was pulled out of US cinemas (will go straight to streaming), so I hope PL will be able to show it. For the kids!
EXCITED: level “okay, I can watch it”

The Lost City (Coming in March) – FILM
I uh, I don’t know. Not really excited for yet another predictable movie, but it sounds like good entertainment for a Friday night, after a rough week at work. So, I am willing to watch it. One author for another.
EXCITED: level “nope, but let’s watch it for science”

The Unbreakable Boy (Coming in March) – FILM
Finally something with Zachary Levi on screen! This boy needs more time on our screens, not only as Shazam, but in general! It’s going to be a great, heartwarming movie about autistic boy, who lives a wonderful, joyous life – despite the circumstances.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

Everything Everywhere All at Once (Coming in April) – FILM
Sounds like a great, down-to-Earth sci-fi. See what I did there? 😉 We don’t know much about it just yet, and you know what? I think I’d like to keep it a secret for myself. Sometimes I do that with movies, I avoid the trailers and all information. This could be my film!
EXCITED: level “okay, I can watch it”

The Northman (Coming in April) – FILM
Oh, holy shit, this movie looks fantastic. Ruthless, aggressive and on fire. Great cast as well and it gives me the cool Vikings vibe – the one I felt at the beginning of watching this show. Excited much!
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Coming in April) – FILM
Part one was surprisingly super fun and kind of good for me? I liked it a lot – maybe because my godson fell in love with it. And I love watching films with him! So, I am hopeful for part two, considering that first installment ended with a twist!
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Coming in May) – FILM
My relationship with Marvel is currently complicated. It’s been too much of it – movies, shows… Few years back, it was something we all waited for. Sure, seeing No way home repaired that relationship, but still. I hate when someone or something is pressuring me into watching something.
I get all rebelious and will stall forever. This is the thing with Loki and Hawkeye. Am I missing some links? Couldn’t care less. But yes, Doctor Strange is a great character and I am curious to see how Marvel will further approach the multiverse concept.
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

DC League of Super-Pets (Coming in May) – FILM
For me, it’s one of the most anticipated movies of 2022! I cannot even begin to explain, this could be one of the best DC movies ever. I mean, a film about Superman’s doggo? I am sold. Could be one of the “feel good” ones.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

Lightyear (Coming in June) – FILM
Okay so… My only question is why? Really? Are there no other great ideas for “space” films? I am on the fence here, but hoping it will be a pleasant surprise once I will go see it in the cinema. Probably in polish, though.
EXCITED: level “nope, but let’s watch it for science”

Jurassic World: Dominion (Coming in June) – FILM
The advertising campaign is sick. I am a big fan of the breadcrumbs and moviemakers are doing that more often. Nolan did it with Tenet and so is the JW team doing here. Showing a few minutes preview before Black Widow in IMAX…
And the original cast is returning, could it get any better?
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

Thor: Love and Thunder (Coming in July) – FILM
Again… I am only excited to see what Taika Waititi has cooked up behind the camera. Other than that… Marvel, I am so sorry. But we need a break.
EXCITED: level “nope, but let’s watch it for science”

Black Adam (Coming in July) – FILM
And that’s my jam! My current jam, because DC is taking over my heart. The Rock as future nemesis of Shazam? Hell yes, this cannot be bad. I mean, sure it can. But I am hopeful. Shazam is one of my favorite characters in the DC universe.
I cannot wait, probably the second most anticipated film of the year for me.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police” + “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

Don’t Worry Darling (Coming in August) – FILM
Olivia Wide behind the camera sounds absolutely interesting. And she is also among the amazing cast, alongside Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Nick Kroll… It will be an interesting story for sure. And the aura of mystery around this production is almost seductive!
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part One (Coming in October) – FILM
Should I even explain? First installment of Spider-Verse was a masterpiece and I still have chills when I think about it. The short teaser that had its premiere few weeks ago sent pure electricity down my spine and I am counting the days. That’s how excited I am to see it.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police” + “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

The Flash (Coming in November) – FILM
For a long time, Ezra Miller didn’t feel like MY Flash, but this kid is growing on me. This movie also smells like the multiverse to me, re-introducing different Batmans from the past. I mean, having Michael Keaton back? Wow.
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Coming in November) – FILM
Bitter sweet. Probably the one Marvel movie this year that I really want to see. First part was spectacular – plot, colors, ethnicity and heritage. With this one, it will be very tricky. Chadwick is gone… But never forgotten. I am watching you, Marvel.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Euphoria (Coming in January) – SERIES (S2)
Oh boy, this show was… Something else. Spectacular Zendaya with her well-deserved Emmy award for that role. It’s an important show, that’s for sure. Touches upon critical subjects, especially for teenagers.
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

Atlanta (Coming in March) – SERIES (S3)
Oh, Sweet Donald Glover! FINALLY, goddammit! But you know what? It means I’ll get to rewatch S1 and S2 of this brilliant, FANTASTIC SHOW! I cannot wait to see what Season 3 brings and I am avoiding all promotional materials at all costs.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police” + “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

Bridgerton (Coming in March) – SERIES (S2)
Need I say more? A guilty pleasure, for sure. Gosh, I was blushing a lot while watching it. But it’s one of the “feel good” shows for a lazy weekend or a girl’s night out. It’s going to be linked to S1, but not in the obvious way. So, I am excited.
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

The Boys (Coming in June) – SERIES (S3)
Okay, I will admit – this idea is lit. I know it’s based on a comic book series, but man! Seeing “super” heroes as the bad guys? Loved it. It was brutal and it’s not the kind of show I will randomly put on again, but defo worth watching. And Karl Urban, okay?
EXCITED: level “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Kenobi (Coming in 2022) – SERIES
Okay, well. Come on, Lot. This is THE most anticipated premiere for me in 2022, no doubt. I have been waiting for this show ever since I watched Ewan in the prequels. Okay, maybe I didn’t know how much I needed it in my life until they announced it, but still.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED” + “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Andor (Coming in 2022) – SERIES
I like my Latino representation in Star Wars, so… And since my SW mood for love is back (with Jedi: Fallen Order’s help), I cannot wait to see what the story will be. SW is getting pretty good with their shows. I am super excited.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED” + “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Halo (Coming in 2022) – SERIES
Just because. It was (still is, I think?) hit video games and these adaptations usually don’t have much luck… So, I am rooting for this project very, very much. Please, be decent!
EXCITED: level “oh yeah, I kind of waited for this!”

Moon Knight (Coming in 2022) – SERIES
Not gonna lie that the only reason I am waiting for this one is because of the fantastic Mr. Isaac as the title character. The teaser stole my heart and it will probably be the only Marvel show I will be watching episode after episode.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED”

The Mandalorian (Coming in 2022) – SERIES (S3)
I could watch Mando over and over again, every day of the year. It’s soooooo damn good and I am so curious what they will show in season 3, given how the second one ended… With a heartbreak. But there is a huge Mandalore angle – Black Saber and all.
EXCITED: level “LONG HAVE I WAITED” + “if this isn’t good, I am calling the police”

Postponed goods I am still excited to see: Unbearable weight of massive talent, Death on the Nile, Uncharted…
Whew, that is quite a list, no? But that’s good. Plenty of things to see out there. Hopefully, movies meant for big screen… Covid willing, we will be able to witness them on the big screen. For the rest – that’s why I have this big-ass TV at home! Vandalore is ready.
Awww, I am excited about 2022! I am also looking forward to some of these items. But, you absolutely need to catch up with Halston and Hawkeye! And What if – especially before new Doctor Strange.
